For two centuries, following numerous catastrophic events, the church has been rebuilt, transformed and even changed place. The edifice, built in 1895, is the work of Henri Picq, an architectural genius, who also designed other famous buildings such as the Schoelcher Library and the Market of Fort de France. The architectural character of the Cathedral is based on its interior decoration : polychrome frescas wall paintings, original stained-glasses windows, precious wood furniture, metal friezes with an open-work design. Famous for its organs, the cathedral is well-known for its touristic aspects and an important religious frequentating.
